Tequileria
About This Spot
Walking into Tequileria feels like stepping into a vibrant little oasis amid the steady hum of Charlotte’s Josh Birmingham Parkway. The pace here is comfortably unhurried, a bustling yet inviting space where the sounds of clinking glasses and friendly chatter mingle with the warm tones of Tex-Mex flavors in the air. It’s the kind of place where airport energy meets the welcoming spirit of a neighborhood cantina — lively without being overwhelming, familiar without feeling routine.
There’s a rhythm to the experience at Tequileria that harmonizes well with its dual identity as both a bar and a culinary spot rooted in Mexican and Tex-Mex traditions. Whether you’re settling in for a quick respite or an extended gathering, the atmosphere offers a casual ease that encourages connection, no matter the time of day. Mornings here might catch the comforting aroma of a breakfast burrito or a freshly poured Bloody Mary, while evenings bring the buzz of sharing nachos and tacos alongside thoughtfully mixed margaritas or a crisp Paloma.
Beyond the drinks and plates, Tequileria invites you to savor moments — the swapping of stories over guacamole warmed just right, the casual clink of glasses raised in a quiet toast, the steady flow of folks finding a familiar corner on a bustling day. The team works with palpable care that, while sometimes stretched thin on busy nights, quietly underscores the place’s role as a dependable stop for travelers and locals alike.
Some of the charm here lies in those inviting, sometimes unexpected touches: a twist on the classic hamburger folded into a tortilla instead of a bun, or the playful dance between traditional flavors and casual Tex-Mex comfort foods. It’s a setting where the menu feels like a conversation, not a checklist — offering flavors that can surprise, soothe, and satisfy in turn.
Ultimately, Tequileria feels less like a polished showcase and more like a genuine chapter in Charlotte’s evolving food landscape — a spot that honors its roots and its community with an honest warmth, the kind that draws you back whenever the moment calls for something straightforward, flavorful, and open-hearted.

The food was good, and the service was decent. It would have been nice if all the menu items were available.

A struggle with this one a little bit because although the sewer is typically substandard, the food is usually decent and it tends to still be my pick for my go to place for layovers at Charlotte Douglas airport. When they get it right it’s really quite good, but there have been times where they’ve been off their mark also. The breakfast with two eggs is quite delicious. Their salsa are all very good. The tortilla soup is excellent. Good health is hard to find and I think it’s even more difficult to find in an airport environment. Give it a try and see what you think. I don’t think you can go wrong.

We enjoyed our meal here during our layover on a recent flight. It's an airport restaurant, crowded and very busy. There seemed to be only one or two servers - working really hard. My husband got the tacos, nicely served with 2 tortillas each. I had the hamburger which was not what I expected - instead of a bun, it was wrapped in a tortilla. We did have to ask twice for the green sauce, which really added to each dish. Very different and very tasty. We enjoyed.
